Homemade Toilet Bowl Cleaner Recipes And Instructions

Homemade toilet bowl cleaner can work as well as commercial toilet bowl cleaners, especially if you clean your toilet regularly.

The advantages of homemade cleaners, such as for your toilet, include:

• Often, they are cheaper than their commercial counterparts; and
• You generally have the ingredients in your home already, meaning you are less likely to be caught without what you need in a pinch.

Below are two recipes for homemade cleaner for your toilet bowl:

Bleach Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup chlorine bleach

Directions:

Put the chlorine bleach into the bowl and let it sit for a few minutes before cleaning.

This recipe is good for disinfecting your toilet -- but be sure to leave it in there long enough for disinfection, approximately 5 minutes at least.

Caution: If you have rust stains in your toilet do not use this recipe until you remove the rust stains!

Vinegar Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup white vinegar

Directions:

Put the vinegar into the toilet bowl and let sit for a few minutes before cleaning.

Using vinegar is a good way to "green clean," meaning it is better for the environment.

Caution: Do not believe any homemade cleaning recipes that say that vinegar will disinfect your toilet or any other surface. It will not. Please see my whole article on why vinegar does not disinfect for more details.
